Greenville- Kiyo with holmes Mazzy Both Whalen were recognized for the work they do in their communities and helping people prioritize their mental health.
Mazzy Whalen moved to Greenville from Jackson in search of an opportunity to help people and has been active for more than 50 years.
She says some people don’t realize how much damage can be done if we don’t take care of our mental health.
Mazzy Whalen– “People with mental issues and concerns sometimes don’t realize how serious the problem is. We need to be able to go to them in a very calm and professional way. there is.”
Kiyo Holmes returned to Delta to further help the community.
She says she wanted to shed new light on mental health awareness.
Kiyo holmes– “I think the biggest thing for me is to remove the stigma around mental illness. There’s always been a stigma, especially in our community. Just to be there and be a support and take away the stigma to remove that stigma. I just want to be a conduit to help change things.” ”
Ezel Landrum said Holmes and Whalen are deserving of this honor for their work in promoting mental health awareness.
