Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala Charitable Hospital is about to pass the milestone of providing free Ayurvedic and allopathic treatment to millions of patients for 100 years. The charity hospital, known as ‘Dharmaspatri’ among locals, will begin its year-long centenary celebrations from Monday.

The year-long celebration will feature seminars, lectures, exhibitions, cultural programs and drama performances based on the life of Arya Vaidya Sala founder Vaidyaratnam PS Varrier.
Established in 1924, this charitable hospital has been offering free allopathic treatment along with Ayurvedic treatment. Last year, about 200,000 patients received free treatment there.
Apart from allopathic and Ayurvedic outpatient and inpatient wings, the hospital has special cancer and mental health clinics. Recently, Charity Hospital opened a palliative care clinic named Sanjeevanam. A clinical research center also functions within the hospital.
