TRENTON — The first fully legal place to buy marijuana in the nation’s capital is now open.
Theory Wellness, a Massachusetts-based dispensary company, has opened a medical marijuana dispensary on New York Avenue.
One of Trenton’s many vacant buildings has been completely redeveloped, adding parking spaces for customers and expanding the surrounding green space.
“This project will take several years to plan and develop, and we are grateful to the city for its continued partnership in making this vision a reality,” said Brandon Pollock, CEO of Theory Wellness. “We have built a reputation on the East Coast for providing an extremely high level of service to our customers, and we are excited to bring that experience and hospitality to New Jersey.”
The company plans to expand into recreational sales “in the coming weeks” and plans to serve the community as it grows.
“As part of our commitment to the city, we partner with local nonprofits to support the city, including generous annual donations to drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs,” a press release from Theory Wellness states. “I’m going,” it says. through additional jobs, tourism and tax revenue. ”
Theory’s community management is a core part of the company’s message of openness.
“We are responsible to the communities in which we operate and are invested in their success,” Theory’s statement said.
Some of the initiatives announced on the first day include:
1. Donate at least $25,000 annually to nonprofit organizations
“2. Economic stimulation through job creation, increased tourism/stimulation of local businesses, state/city taxes, and site beautification.
3. Further community engagement through local organizations such as the New Jersey Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, African American Chamber of Commerce, and New Jersey Minority Chamber of Commerce to support employees through recruiting, professional networking, and job fairs. I do.”
Theory Wellness is based in Massachusetts, but also operates dispensaries in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and now New Jersey.
