Radiant Church, which hosts a two-day Arise Shine conference for pastors and leaders scheduled for next month in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is facing allegations of emotional abuse during its Anaheim residence. , has removed worship musician Jeremy Riddle from the annual event’s lineup.
“After prayerful consideration between Jeremy and Katie Riddle and Radiant Church, it has been decided that Riddle will not be participating in this year’s Arise Shine Conference,” Radiant Church said on the conference’s website. They released a statement on their website and Instagram page. Tuesday.
Radiant Church haven’t said why Riddle won’t be the featured act for the May 6-7 event, but seem to be hinting that he will be a nuisance.
“We are excited about what God has planned for this conference and want to continue to focus on that. Please keep everyone involved in the housing situation in your prayers. Also, please join us in praying for Arise Shine and the lives God will impact throughout this event. ”
Mr. Riddle previously served as worship pastor at Dwelling Place Anaheim (formerly Vineyard Anaheim) in California. He resigned in January after the Riddles and the church’s senior pastor, Alan Scott, were accused of emotional and leadership abuse.
Noah DeBolt, Riddle’s former drummer for Dwelling Place Anaheim, claimed in a video posted to YouTube nearly a year ago that he and his wife were emotionally abused by Riddles.
“The reason I haven’t heard from you in over a year is because I have been spiritually abused by Jeremy and Katie Riddle and Alan and Kathryn Scott. I was traumatized and depressed. I could barely eat, sleep, go out, or take a shower,” DeBolt said.
“For those of you who don’t know what spiritual abuse is, it is psychological and emotional abuse characterized by manipulation, forced conformity, and obedience, usually to an abusive leader who has a sacred role. Unfortunately, my story is not unique at all. Dozens of other victims, including my wife, suffered violence and abuse at the hands of these leaders in the name of God. I am receiving it.”
Former residence of Anaheim Pastor Cynthia Andrews stated in the statement regarding X She said she went to Riddle “in tears” about being emotionally abused by Scott. She claims he ignored her concerns.
”[Riddle] “He dismissed my concerns about spiritual abuse, described Alan as an apostle and prophet, and suggested that enduring such treatment was the price of resurrection,” she said.
in Statement regarding X Last Friday, Mr. DeBolt said he privately asked Radiant Church leaders to keep Mr. Riddle out of the meeting but was refused, so he made his request public.
“I privately asked @Calebculver and @leemcummings to reconsider having Jeremy Riddle as a speaker and worship leader at an upcoming synod. They declined. So I publicly I wanted to ask you to please: Jeremy has manipulated and abused many people under his control, and he has not yet repented,” DeBolt said.
“Their defense against me was that hosting Jeremy would give me the opportunity to hear one-on-one about Jeremy’s ‘exam process,'” he explained. “I asked why I needed to pay an honorarium and give them a platform just to hear about this process, and I got no response.”
