According to one cosmetic doctor, redness and chemical burns may appear on the skin after using DIY treatments with certain cooking ingredients.

She warned against copying viral hacks that claim to reverse the signs of aging, as they could cause more damage in the long run.

Dr. Mahsa Saleki is a surgeon and aesthetic physician who founded Harley Street Clinic SAS Aesthetics.

She has over 10 years of experience in the industry providing injectable treatments and non-surgical anti-aging solutions.

In an interview with US Sun, she revealed how she can slow the signs of aging at home without damaging her skin.

She revealed two cooking ingredients that should not be applied as home remedies.

“Avoid viral anti-aging hacks, such as DIY treatments with lemon juice or baking soda,” she says.

“These ingredients can be too harsh for the skin and can cause irritation, redness, and even chemical burns.

“Additionally, using skin care products that don’t suit your skin type or over-exfoliating can damage your skin’s barrier, increase sensitivity, and accelerate aging over time. .

“It’s best to use scientifically proven ingredients and seek advice from a skin care professional for individual recommendations.”

beauty basics

Dr. Saleki recommended investing in skin care products with active ingredients to reduce the appearance of early signs of aging.

“Essential skin care products for any age group include a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen with an SPF of 50 or higher, and antioxidants like vitamin C to protect against environmental damage,” she says.

“Younger people may be better off with a lighter formula, while those with mature skin should use medical-grade skin care and active ingredients like retinol and more potent vitamin C.”

Regular exercise improves blood circulation and skin health, contributing to a more youthful appearance.

“Retinoids, such as retinol, are very effective in treating fine lines and wrinkles,” she continued.

“These products increase cell turnover, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve skin texture.

“It is important to start with low concentrations and gradually increase the amount used to avoid irritation.

“Hyaluronic acid, peptides, and growth factors also help plump the skin and reduce fine lines.”

Anti-aging tips and “superstar” products

Dr. Anatalia Moore is a general practitioner and dermatologist with over 11 years of clinical experience.

She told US Sun that her goal is to equip patients with the knowledge they need to take control of their skin journey.

She said the basics of a beauty routine are the same at any age and should include an effective cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF.

“More than products with active ingredients, moisturizers are my superstar,” she said.

“Finding a well-balanced moisturizer that provides the right kind of hydration, replaces and seals in natural oils can literally stabilize your skin.

“This on its own can instantly soothe fine lines and texture that are exacerbated by dryness.

“It also allows the skin to function as it should.

“This will help you heal faster, especially with fewer lines and wrinkles, fewer flare-ups of dermatitis and rosacea, and less chance of getting mild breakouts in the short term.”

  • enough sleep
  • balanced diet
  • stress reduction

Dr. Saleki revealed that a youthful appearance can be achieved without the use of expensive beauty products.

She shared some lifestyle factors to consider to keep your skin healthy.

“To reverse the signs of aging, you can make lifestyle changes, such as adopting a balanced diet rich in antioxidants,” she said.

“Stay hydrated, get enough sleep, manage stress levels, avoid smoking, limit alcohol intake, and protect your skin from UV rays.

“Regular exercise improves blood circulation and skin health, contributing to a more youthful appearance.”
