Community Wellness and Workforce Exhibition is coming to Jackson.
Persevere hosts community events at East Jackson Church of Christ to inspire others and fill career gaps. Persevere is a nonprofit organization that works to provide opportunities and second chances to low-income and ex-offenders.
Sabrina Parker, a community support specialist in Persevere, West Tennessee, told 39 News why this organization is important to her.
“These provide a way for people to get IT certifications at no cost at all,” Parker says. “They can get a laptop and have comprehensive support services. People need these doors to be open.”
Jabarre Jarrett, a coding instructor and youth support specialist at Persevere, learned about the program when he was released from prison in 2021 and living in half-house.
“The Persivia program has opened my mind to all of the endless possibilities,” Jarrett said. “And from there I wrote two more books. It not only helped me, but it also helped people who are closely connected to me.”
Sabrina Parker told 39 News the upcoming event will have something for everyone.
“So to help prepare people for the workforce and for their careers, we engaged with different organizations to provide different opportunities to educate people about different paths,” Parker explained. . Because not everyone is interested in technology. ”
On the wellness side of the expo, the Madison County Utah Extension will be at the event offering healthy cooking demos. Empire Beauty School will also be participating and offering free manicures, facials and hairstyles.
The Persevere Community Wellness and Workforce Expo will be held on Saturday, May 4th from 10 a.m. to noon.
