dance with the stars Champion Jenna Johnson is taking some much-needed “me time” to get in a good workout at a fitness studio. Of course she also takes selfies of herself. Johnson, 30, who is married to fellow DWTS mainstay Val Chmerkovskiy, shared a photo taken at the popular Pilates studio in which she wore black shorts and a matching crop top. was. Johnson and Chmerkovskiy welcomed their son in January 2023. Here’s how this dancer has enough energy to balance work and family, and maintains health and fitness.

Johnson hopes more people can take dance classes as part of their training. “I think it would be very nerve-wracking to try a real dance class because you might not have the right technique or be at a certain level, but I think everyone should dance and give it a try.” I think you should.” she said people. “It trains your mind as well as your body, and it works different muscles that you don’t necessarily use on the treadmill or elliptical…Salsa is a Latin dance and it’s great for stamina and cardio. There’s a lot of it. Movements in the core area. I feel like it’s great for working the obliques and back, and the jive is always the most breathtaking and fiery for me just because it works those areas.”

Johnson works out immediately after waking up. “I usually train six days a week and give myself Sunday off to rest and recover.” she said new beauty. “I do 40 minutes of incline walking or running on the treadmill, then walk 10 flights of stairs for another 10 minutes. My body needs aerobic exercise, so I try to sweat as much as possible. Cardio After that, I do 3 sets of 20. I don’t like doing 100 push-ups and crunches on a medicine ball (I use my own body weight instead), but it’s just my body’s habit. It’s a mental thing. Pick something that works for you and stick with it and eventually it will become a habit.”

Protein is important to Johnson. She usually eats scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast. Her dinner is usually close to her bedtime and she eats fish, steak, and chicken. “It’s really important to include leafy greens for lunch, so I always try to have some sort of salad with chicken or turkey or quinoa. Then I love to snack on carrots and hummus. I also love pretzels. is.” she said people. “I feel like it expands in my stomach and makes me feel fuller for a little longer.”

Johnson is careful about sugar and caffeine. He says, “I always treat myself to sweets and desserts, but I know that overconsumption is not good for my body.” she said new beauty. “I don’t drink coffee or large amounts of caffeine. I know my body needs something to consume throughout the day and I’ve found kombucha to be a lifesaver for me. Probiotics and It’s insanely rich in ingredients that are beneficial to my body. All in moderation, but try replacing your caffeine intake so you don’t shut down during the day.”

Johnson recommends keeping a positive mindset on any fitness journey. “If you’re working hard to follow your nutrition regimen and go to the gym frequently, reward yourself with positivity.” she said new beauty. “It’s hard not to judge yourself if you don’t see results right away. It’s a process, but it’s a process worth waiting for.”
