After suffering heartache and grief, Angel Carter Conrad, Aaron Carter’s twin sister, is sharing her family’s story and previously unheard stories about Aaron Carter in hopes of helping others. Aaron’s sister, Leslie Carter, died in 2012 at age 25 of an apparent overdose. Last year, Entertainment Tonight reported that Aaron’s other sister, Bobbie Jean Carter, died at the age of 41 from “intoxication due to the combined effects of fentanyl and methamphetamine.”

In 2022, approximately 108,000 Americans died from a drug overdose. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report.

“Certainly there are generational dysfunction issues that come with it, but growing up, there was a time when we were a really close family. There was a lot of love, but there was also a lot of love. “There’s a lot of confusion going on at the same time,” Angel Carter Conrad told CBS Morning.

She said fame changed the dynamics in the Carter family, where her parents often fought and she couldn’t rely on them in times of need. In addition to her Aaron’s singing career, her younger brother Nick Carter is also a member of the Backstreet Boys.

“When the money started coming in, we realized we were a family without money,” she said. “We were from upstate New York. My parents were poor and had never seen anything like this before, so when the money started coming in, it became the driving force and things really changed. started.”

She wants people to know that through grief, even in bad situations, you can find the good.

“The good thing about this situation is that Aaron has this platform and my family has this platform. I’m going to turn this ship around and start actually helping other people. , we want to learn from our stories.”

Aaron Carter’s team and Angel Carter Conrad are releasing his music as never before heard.

“Fans have been asking for this music. After Aaron passed away, we organized a benefit concert in his honor, ‘The Songs for Tomorrow.’ We played ‘Recovery’ in that show. “I did,” said Angel Carter Conrad. .

She said that through her brother’s struggles, she ultimately lost hope. She focused on therapy to help with that.

“I went through a period of years where I always had hope, but the last few years of Aaron’s life, I was just waiting for him to get out of that situation, but sadly he I never did.”

“The Recovery Album” will be released on May 24th. In an effort to raise awareness, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the nonprofit organization The Kids Mental Health Foundation (formerly known as On our Sleeves).

Angel Carter Conrad said: “Children’s mental health is so important and we want to create a world where mental health is an essential part of every child’s upbringing. That’s what I’m working on with my daughter.”
