The center has started an initiative to improve the nutrition of adolescent girls using Ayurveda.
The anti-anemia project under Mission Utkarsh is a joint public health initiative by the Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Women and Child Development and will initially be launched in five ambitious districts as pilot projects.
Both ministries signed a memorandum of understanding regarding this project. The ceremony was attended by Union Minister Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal and Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani.
Under the Utkarsh Mission, 15 central ministries will work to bring the lowest-ranked districts up to the state and national average.
In the first phase, adolescent girls in five aspirational districts of five states – Assam (Dhubri), Chhattisgarh (Bastar), Jharkhand (Paschmi Singhbhum) and Maharashtra (Gakiroli) The focus may be on improving anemia among children (14 to 18 years old). ), and Rajasthan (Daholpur).
The project will cover around 10,000 anganwadi centers across five districts. The aim is to improve the nutrition of approximately 95,000 adolescent girls living in anemia-prone areas.
