Terrence Flowers wins defamation lawsuit against Network Seven

TV network incorrectly identified Flowers as the 4-year-old’s kidnapper Cleo Smith This was stated in a series of reports published on 7News on November 3rd. He filed a defamation suit against Network Seven, citing the emotional distress and abuse he suffered as a result of Network Seven’s negligence.

NITV reported that Flowers also used his mother’s maiden name, Kelly, on social media, which led Network Seven to mistake him for a Cambourbon man. Terrence Darrell Kelly. Kelly pleaded guilty last month to kidnapping Smith.

The case was heard by a judge in the Supreme Court of Western Australia, and the judge peter quinlan The court ruled in favor of Flowers.

“I would like to thank my lawyers and Aboriginal people for their support,” Ms Flowers told Ngāda Media.

Flowers was represented by an attorney sue chrisantou O’Brien Criminal and Civil Lawyers SC. After the hearing, the law firm issued a statement confirming that the case had been resolved. Both parties congratulated themselves on reaching a resolution.

“Mr. Flowers’ attorney, Criminal and Civil Attorney O’Brien, said they and their client are very happy with this settlement and that Mr. Flowers can move on with his life and enjoy time with his wife and young son. “We are looking forward to it,” a company spokesperson said in a statement.

“Mr. Flowers’ attorney respectfully requests that the privacy of Mr. Flowers and his family be respected.”

Immediately after the incident, Channel Seven issued a two-sentence statement to Flowers, apologizing for the mistake.

“Earlier Wednesday, 7NEWS incorrectly displayed an image of a man incorrectly labeled as the person under arrest in Cleo Smith’s disappearance,” the publication shared on its page.

“These were immediately removed and 7NEWS apologizes for the error.”

Flowers announced that he plans to file a lawsuit against the network on November 6th. At the time, he said, “I want the company to not only apologize but also to work more seriously and professionally.”
