Arla Foods Elements has reached an agreement to acquire Volac’s whey nutrition business.
UK-based Volac Group specializes in turning whey into raw materials for sports nutrition, with by-products sold for food and animal nutrition. At the heart of this is a whey processing facility in Felinfach, Wales.
Arla Foods Elements has entered into an agreement to acquire the whey nutrition division of Volac’s business through the purchase of shares in Volac Whey Nutrition Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries Volac Whey Nutrition Limited and Volac Renewable Energy Limited. Closing of the transaction is expected to close later this year, subject to necessary regulatory approvals.
This acquisition will play an important role in Arla Foods Ingrigent’s future plans. The company envisions the Ferinfach site as a global production hub and the basis for an enhanced product offering in the performance, health and food sectors.
For Borac, this is a logical step in our evolution as a family business and a starting point for the optimal development of the whey nutrition business and the rest of Borac’s animal nutrition businesses.
Louis Kubel, Group Vice President and Managing Director of Arla Foods English, said:
“Volac is a pioneer in the use of whey protein in performance nutrition, with a wealth of expertise and an incredibly talented team. We are excited about the opportunities ahead, as they share our commitment to helping people make the most of their time.”
James Neville, co-owner of Volac, said on behalf of the Neville family: after that.
“When thinking about the future of Volac Whey Nutrition and the opportunities that lie ahead for the business, it was very important to us that we choose a partner with the right values and expertise. We have the ambition and knowledge to raise the bar.”
