Peter Facinelli knew the best way to treat his fiancée when she went into labor last month. It’s hypnotherapy.
of twilight and nurse jackie The 48-year-old star said he used the hypnotherapy skills he learned during the pandemic to help his fiancée, actress Lily-Anne Harrison, give birth.
“When she was having contractions, I sat her down and gave her hypnotic suggestions. And honestly, it helped. I put her into a deep state of relaxation. ” Facinelli can now be seen in the photo. roar Speaking to Yahoo Life on Apple TV+. “She was in prodromal labor for about eight or nine hours at her home. Then we went to the hospital and within a few hours she gave birth. It helped ease her pain. Ta.”
The couple had a son, Jack Cooper Facinelli. This will be the first boy for Facinelli, who has three daughters with his ex-wife Jenny Garth. But giving birth wasn’t the first time Facinelli explored hypnotherapy. This exercise was originally used to deal with anxiety so bad that I couldn’t even stand in the cafeteria lunch line as a teenager.
“I was really shy in high school,” Facinelli said. He admitted that it took him three years while in high school to be able to go up to his house and order food. “I just didn’t want people to see me.”
By the time I got to college, I found myself more free to explore myself through my characters. He turned to hypnotherapy to gain the confidence to perform in public, and he hasn’t looked back. When the coronavirus pandemic hit, the actor decided to dig a little deeper into hypnotherapy and learn how to perform it himself. He completed his 3 month in-depth course and now uses this practice frequently for himself and others. In fact, he used it on her sister to stop her from getting out of bed or eating peanuts in the middle of the night. But real-life hypnotherapy is very different from how it’s portrayed on screen, Facinelli says.
“When I think of hypnosis, I think of carnival acts,” he explains. “But think of it more as a type of deep relaxation and meditation on your own consciousness and consciousness. Remove any stigma about it.”
Facinelli frequently records hypnotherapy tapes to play to himself when he is dealing with anxiety.
“It’s like the vehicle is going really fast and then just stops. My mind is all over the place,” he says. “But when I listen to things like guided meditations or self-hypnosis tapes that I’ve made for myself, it just puts me in a meditative state. It can be used for a lot of things. If I’m hypnotizing you, I am.” I’m guiding you, but you already want those things. You are allowing it to penetrate yourself and your subconscious mind. So it’s almost like a guide. ”
Facinelli realized that maintaining physical health is deeply connected to mental health. After gaining weight for several acting roles, he found himself gaining 30 pounds when the pandemic began. Feeling sluggish, he decided to try his hand at training a little better.
“I started turning my garden into a gym,” said Facinelli, who bought gymnastics rings and hung them on a tree.
“I lost 30 pounds and am probably in the best shape of my life,” he added. “And from that point on, we tried to maintain that.”
These days, Facinelli is an avid racquetball player, but says he only loses 30 percent of his weight through exercise.
“Seventy percent of it was really like, ‘What am I putting in my mouth?'” Someone asked me, “How did you lose 30 pounds?” “I used to joke and say, ‘I have a hole under my nose, and as long as I don’t put bad food in there, it’ll help,'” he says.
