The Government Naturopathy and Yoga Medical College and Hospital in Arumbakkam will soon open a separate ward to accommodate patients who will save themselves the hassle of traveling daily for treatment as outpatients.

With the construction of a separate building, the University Hospital will soon have a 50-bed inpatient ward. Doctors at the hospital said the patient would be admitted after analyzing his health condition.

“By accepting some patients who are being treated for lifestyle-related diseases, we can help them eat properly and make other lifestyle changes. Of course, there are also patients who cannot find the diet we suggest. An inpatient ward is beneficial for those people,” the doctor said.

The university is the only government-run institution for Naturopathy and Yoga Science in the state, apart from four private universities, and has been in operation since 2000, offering a five-year Bachelor’s degree in Naturopathy and Yoga Science. We are accepting 20 students for the degree. .

In addition to yoga and meditation, the hospital offers a variety of non-drug treatments for lifestyle diseases, including reflexology, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, acupressure, steam baths, massage therapy, mud therapy, diet therapy, and counseling. are doing. But until now, all these treatments were available to patients only as outpatients, while universities and hospitals specializing in other Indian medicines such as Siddha, Ayurveda and Unani (which also have a campus in Arumbakkam) have inpatient wards. There is.
