More than 200 law enforcement officers will attend the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office’s 1st Annual Wellness Conference.
BRENTWOOD, N.Y. – The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office will hold its first annual Wellness Conference on April 18 at Suffolk County Community College’s Grant Campus.
The conference will be held at the Van Nostrand Theater and will address stress factors that affect men and women in law enforcement and public safety professionals, the sheriff’s office said.

Speakers will cover topics such as mental health, resiliency, trauma and general health that are relevant to law enforcement professionals.
More than 200 local law enforcement officials are expected to attend.
The event is led by the Sheriff’s Office Wellness Unit, which was established in 2022 and is Long Island’s only full-time law enforcement wellness unit. According to a press release, the organization aims to “enhance the well-being of all Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office employees and provide peer support when needed.”
Since its launch, the force’s officers have provided assistance more than 3,500 times, created a 41-member trained peer support team, and launched the Get Help Now service, which instantly connects users to a variety of resources related to mental illness.
