Ayurvedic industry: Gujarat’s Ayurvedic industry ranks 4th | Ahmedabad News

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat-based Ayurvedic manufacturers are capitalizing on the growing global demand for Ayurvedic medicines and products by focusing on increasing exports. Ayurvedic manufacturing industry revenue in India is estimated to be around Rs 1.5 billion annually, with Gujarat accounting for a major share of his 12%. The state with the highest contribution is Uttar Pradesh, followed by Kerala, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Speaking at a seminar organized by the Gujarat Ayurveda Aushad Manufacturers Association (Gama) in Ahmedabad on Saturday, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, secretary of the Ayursh Ministry, said, The government has made efforts to boost the industry through various schemes aimed at facilitation and ease of doing business, including reducing compliance for obtaining licenses. Gujarat has around 850 Ayurvedic manufacturing units, which is 10% of India’s total units of 8,500 units. ” In the post-COVID-19 era, the demand for Ayurvedic products has increased both domestically and internationally, creating an opportunity for manufacturers to expand their market reach. Recognizing this potential, the Indian government has introduced various schemes to support the Ayurvedic manufacturing sector with the aim of enhancing the quality and competitiveness of Indian Ayurvedic products globally. Garma President Hardik Ukani said, “The demand for Ayurvedic medicines has been rapidly increasing domestically and internationally since India.” COVID. Immune-enhancing drugs have seen strong demand in recent years. Ayurveda sector is growing at 17% annually. Gujarat-based Ayurvedic companies are targeting export markets in a big way. ” He added that although the domestic market has been growing steadily, competition in the domestic market has increased significantly in recent years, so companies are turning to the export market in search of faster growth. “Over the years, we have improved our manufacturing processes and set quality standards, which has led to increased opportunities for export to different countries. Also, acceptance of Ayurvedic and alternative medicines has also increased globally,” Ukani said. said. Gujarat’s strategic focus on the Ayurvedic sector puts it in a good position to capitalize on global interest. Manufacturers in the region are increasing their production capacity to meet growing demand and comply with international standards. The growth trajectory of the Ayurvedic industry suggests a promising future for exports and contributes to the overall expansion of the Indian traditional medicine market on the global stage.
