Vishu, the Malayalam New Year, usually falls on April 14th. Dorik Panchan said this year’s auspicious Vishu Kani moment will begin even earlier on April 13 at 9:15 pm.

- Gifts: Following the Vishukkhani blessing, the family gifts money (Vishkaineetham) to the younger members, symbolizing future wealth.
- Spread good cheer: Wealthy families may give gifts to neighbors and servants, promoting the prosperity of the community.
- Vishu Sadhya: A feast for the senses
