MACON, Ga. — The 1st Annual Stroller Strut will be held Saturday.
This event is a walking, talking event that shines a spotlight on the health issues of Black mothers.
Sponsored by NPO Mother’s Nest. They were founded in 2022.
“We founded Mother’s Nest to address the growing need and concern about increased maternal mortality in Black and brown communities,” the organization’s website says. “Therefore, we want to provide disenfranchised young mothers with access to essential baby products. By providing these resources, we can improve the health and well-being of mothers and babies. That’s what we’re aiming for.”
They provide training, support, and baby supplies to underserved young women in Central Georgia.
“We serve people whose loved ones are incarcerated because they are victims too,” says Mother’s Nest Executive Director Sabrina Friday.
Friday said this organization fills an important need among us that is underserved.
They believe those families need support, Friday said.
“We call them underserved communities because sometimes they get left behind,” Friday said.
The event will be held at Amerson River Park this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
