Start
- Find a quiet place where you can sit up straight and comfortably, such as the edge of your bed, the floor, or a chair.
- Close your eyes and focus on your breathing or another focal point to be fully present.
- Relax your body by loosening your shoulders, loosening your jaw, and softening your eyebrows.
Mindful meditation to help you reflect on your day
Falling asleep often feels like a long process. Of course, if you are one of the few who can fall asleep the moment your head hits the pillow, consider yourself extremely lucky. An empathetic person might be someone who lies awake for another 10 minutes in the dark thinking about everything that happened that day. This might include thinking back on a conversation with a colleague, an argument with a partner, or a joke with a friend.
But what if we were instead grateful for the interactions that made us smile? The people we were able to help, the commutes that allowed us to get to work smoothly, and the ones that left us feeling happy and fulfilled? Lunch order given. Remember some of the things that went well that day and take some time to reflect.
This meditation will help you practice putting those thoughts and emotions (even good ones) to bed so you can finally rest your mind and body.
