Vitamin C is an excellent antioxidant that reduces discoloration, but whitening ingredients (such as azelaic acid and retinoids) can be irritating to BB’s sensitive skin. But there are also gentle vitamin C serums, and Vani Cream is Dr. Garshick’s favorite. It’s her go-to product for anyone with sensitive skin or chronic redness. That’s because “it combines vitamin C derivatives and ceramides to help support the skin’s barrier and minimize dryness,” she says. “Lightweight and highly absorbent, it’s formulated without dyes, fragrances, masking fragrances, lanolin, parabens, or formaldehyde-releasing agents.” (These can irritate the skin.)
FYI: The vitamin C in this serum isn’t as strong as other serums, so don’t expect your blemishes to disappear right away. However, if you want faster results, you can apply it twice a day, if no inflammation or redness occurs.
- Main ingredients: vitamin C, ceramide
- Skin type: sensitive
- size: Oz on the 1st floor.
Glowing customer reviews: “Finally, I have my favorite vitamin C serum. I’ve been using high-end formulas with high vitamin C content. Unfortunately, they are very irritating to me and make my hyperpigmentation worse. I have been using 2 tubes so far and have seen a huge change. My skin is more resilient to environmental stressors and is brighter. Very affordable Effective for the price.”
