Amanda Burns Tolson is working to lead the way.
The core of good health is practicing good habits. Adopt behaviors that promote both physical and mental health. The Club at Old Hawthorne’s fitness program is tailored to meet those needs.
Amanda Burns Tolson was a member of COMO business time 20 members of the 2011 Under 40 class. Currently she is the fitness director at Old Her Hawthorn’s club.
“Yes,” she said with a laugh. “I was there for a while.”
She currently works as an instructor, health coach, and personal trainer. What does she like about her job? Tolson answered without hesitation.
“Everything,” she said. “It’s all about helping people. That’s why I do it. Helping people set goals and watching them achieve their goals.” We take pride in seeing our customers thrive and improve their quality of life.
Within the past year, The Club at Old Hawthorne has renovated its facility and reimagined it as a wellness center.
“We’ve basically doubled the size of our facility,” Tolson said. “We’ve added a huge new classroom and are offering more classes like yoga and tai chi to help keep our membership healthy.”
Tolson wears many hats and works with a variety of clients. Additionally, some of her clients maintain their memberships in The Club even though she has moved, and attend virtual training sessions with her. She said working with different types of clients and using different methods is one of her main reasons why she values her work. Ta.
“I feel like our population is a little different,” she said. “We have a very wide age range. We have a lot of young families, so we want to offer as many classes and programs as possible so our nationals can do what they want to do.”
Retirees can practice tai chi, which may help them get back on the golf course, pickleball court, or tennis court. There is also a summer swim program for kids featuring the Barracuda swim team and swim lessons.
“We’re just trying to give all of our members everything they need and want, even if they don’t necessarily know they need it or want it,” she said. added.
Tolson said her main goals are accountability and guidance. She said she loves her one-on-one appointments with clients. Because such sessions are a motivator for people who are busy but still want to exercise, and by booking such sessions they can stay focused on their goals. She also enjoys working with people who are looking for ways to be more productive with fitness equipment.
“I have clients who say, ‘When I go to the gym, I know I can do it, but I don’t know how, and I get overwhelmed, so I walk on the treadmill for 15 minutes,’ and then I go home,” Tolson says. Told. “And I understand. My job is to make sure you’re doing it safely so you don’t get hurt.”



Many of her clients are seniors, and Ms. Tolson is certified in senior fitness and orthopedic recovery, working with people who have been treated for surgery or injury.
“We are working together [the regimen] We will help you use what your physical therapist has been using and continue using it.There are all kinds of valid reasons to ask for help. [with fitness],” she added.
