Kristen Wiig weekend He returned to Studio 8H and hosted “Saturday Night Live.” During her appearance, she appeared in a sketch called Pilates, a parody trailer for a horror film centered around the absurd horror.
The parody begins with “SNL” cast members Chloe Fineman and Molly Carney playing two women who reluctantly enter a dark, mysterious room with strange machinery. Shortly after getting accustomed to the eerie surroundings, a cheerful Pilates instructor, played by Wiig, greets us with cheerful chirps. “Hey moms! Is this your first class?”
A fake movie title simply called “Pilates” appears when the trailer’s narrator describes the film as follows:A chilling new take on girl horror from the “creator of Thor X and director of marketing for Alo.”
In the next scene, a traumatized woman, played by SNL’s Sarah Sherman, tells a friend about a nightmarish experience she had while attending a Pilates class. It’s very hard, but also very boring. ”
The action cuts to Wiig’s instructor issuing impossible-sounding strap-placement instructions while a haunting version of Megan Thee Stallion’s “Body” plays in the background.
The sketch pokes fun at Pilates enthusiasts, as customers in Wiig’s class include “eight gorgeous women, one gay man not wearing underwear, and the occasional Kaia Gerber.”
Gerber then appears in the sketch, and the model says, “This is so random so easy” while using one of the training machines, showing that he has a sense of humor.
Joking aside, it’s not too much of a stretch to associate Pilates with something more sinister.
Circus performer Joseph Pilates developed this exercise during World War I while incarcerated in a concentration camp on the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea.
According to Vogue magazinePilates’ movements were inspired by the “thin cat on the island” that “chased mice and birds”, and Pilates marveled at the movements of cats. “His energy and agility were in striking contrast to the physical and mental condition of his fellow internees.”
As Vogue noted, he is also rumored to have created the first Reformer, a machine used in Pilates classes, after tinkering with a hospital bed in the camp.
