A photo of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Madhavi Lata holding a portable prayer tool during an interview with India TV’s Rajat Sharma has been shared with false claims that she is holding a remote control for a teleprompter.
Lata, 49, is running on the Bharatiya Janata Party ticket against All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and Asaduddin Owaisi, a four-time Member of Parliament (MP) from Hyderabad. They are fighting on election tickets. Latha was giving an interview on Sharma’s TV news program ‘Aap Ki Adalat’.
The viral photo was posted on X by handle Asma @asmatasleem13 along with a collage with the caption, “Teleprompters make great orators. The BJP is full of dishonest people.” Her @asmatasleem13 profile states that she is the Telangana Congress Press Secretary.

BOOM has found that Bharatiya Janata Party leader Madhavi Lata was holding a digital counter used for pujas and the meditation was being shared with false claims that it was a remote control for a teleprompter.
Inspired by the X handle answer It’s a meditation device, not a remote control. I checked “Portable Plastic Beads Portable Rotating Digital Finger Counter for Puja Meditation Prayer” on Amazon and found that this device matched the one Latha has in her hand.

I then looked for other visuals from the interview and found that this device matched a meditation/pooja device. Below you can see that it is not a remote control as claimed.

Additionally, we checked out Latha’s other interviews. There, we see her holding the same device in her hand, and we see that it’s not a remote control.
