Student Wellness will be hosting events throughout April to spread knowledge and discussion about Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
On April 3, ETSU’s student wellness program Wellness2Go hosted a “Keep It Safe and sexy” (KISS) event, the second event of the week focused on Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The event aimed to educate students about healthy relationships and sexual health.
“Student Wellness recognizes this important month and is dedicated to preventing sexual violence, providing education, and supporting survivors of sexual violence within the ETSU community,” said Hayley Darby, Assistant Director of Student Wellness. We are hosting several events throughout April.”
ETSU students kicked off the month with the annual “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” event highlighting gender inequality and sexual violence. Events to raise awareness and educate students about sexual assault will continue throughout this month.
Apart from these events focused on Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Wellness2Go hosts health-based seminars throughout the year that are open to all students. Student Wellness is focused on educating and supporting students in all aspects of their health.
“Students can learn more about the programs offered at camprec@etsu.edu or refer to the master calendar. Students seeking resources outside of Sexual Assault Awareness Month can email wellness@etsu.edu Submit or register for a health consultation at the Basler Physical Activity Center,” Darby said.
The next event hosted by Student Wellness during Sexual Assault Awareness Month is the annual “Take Back the Night” festival. The event will be held on April 11th in the courtyard of the Physical Activity Center and will raise awareness about the safety of solo women at night. The event begins at 7:30 p.m., and all students are welcome.
ETSU strives to be a safe place for everyone, and educating and starting conversations during Sexual Assault Awareness Month impacts every student on campus.
