Sharjah 24: House of Wisdom (HoW) celebrated the holy month of Ramadan with its annual Ramadaniyat event. The event included a series of over 40 cultural and creative activities and attracted 8,000 visitors. These events spanned workshops, exhibitions and Ramadan evenings, transforming How’s exterior and interior courtyards into vibrant spaces that reflect the emirate’s cultural richness.
Due to public demand and strong interest in the diverse activities, HowW has extended the Ramadaniyat event until April 14th. This extension will allow more visitors to experience the unique blend of culture and creative endeavor that has captivated audiences.

The “Tapestry of Culture” event was highlighted by interactive workshops. Participants learned more about an ancient Egyptian decoupage workshop in which colored paper is cut and pasted and decorated with adhesive. The “Looming” workshop added a traditional and unique aspect to the handicrafts and captivated the visitors. Additionally, the “Wisdom Tales” event, organized in collaboration with the UAE Youth Library Board and the Sharjah Institute of Cultural Heritage, enriched the festive atmosphere with interactive sessions. Here, visitors weaved stories inspired by the emirate’s rich oral and written heritage.

Ramadaniyat also announced the opening of the “Chapter of Islamic Art: Carpets” exhibition, which will run until the end of May. This exhibition highlights the cultural, historical and heritage importance of carpets, textiles and textile art in the Islamic world. It features an impressive array of large volumes on Islamic art in illuminated manuscripts and textiles, carefully selected from Dr. Richard Oettinghausen’s acclaimed private library. The accompanying creative workshop captivated the audience to learn about art and create miniature his models of works of art using traditional manual tools. Participants showcased their work on a mural in the courtyard outside the HoW.

Commenting on the annual Ramadaniyat, HoW Director-General Marwa Al Aqroubi said: “The events during the blessed month of Ramadan were a clear demonstration of Sharjah’s cultural fusion, with spiritual and moral values at the forefront. It is a holy month that appears in , we thought that these events would emerge as a platform to revive traditions, increase cultural awareness, and provide a contemplative and creative space. ”

She continued: “The HoW events offered a glimpse into Islamic and Arab identity and highlighted the invaluable contribution of Arabs to the venerable field of traditional art, an area in which they have historically excelled. , reaffirms the vital role and mission of the HoW in highlighting Arab and Islamic civilization and strengthening Sharjah’s position as a beacon of culture and knowledge for the UAE and other countries. Masu. ”
