retain sunlight for vitamin d

A new study focuses on the anti-aging effects of vitamin D and its receptors in Drosophila, reveals their critical role in stem cell health and longevity, and provides insight into the mechanisms of aging.

Adult stem cells play an important role in maintaining tissue balance, and their decline in function is associated with aging and related diseases, and is influenced by the surrounding cellular environment. Clinical studies in humans consistently show that vitamin D and its receptor levels decline with aging and cancer. Nevertheless, it remains unclear how the vitamin D/vitamin D receptor (VitD/VDR) pathway helps prevent aging and extend lifespan.

In a new study, researchers Joung-Sun Park, Hyun-Jin Na, and Yung-Jin Kim from Busan National University and the Korea Institute of Food Research investigate the vitamin D/vitamin D receptor pathway in differentiated intestinal cells (ECs). The purpose of this study was to elucidate the protective role of ) during aging of intestinal stem cells (ISCs).

Research purpose and methodology

The researchers said: Drosophila A model of the intestine. ”

By utilizing a well-established system, Drosophila Using a midgut model of stem cell aging biology, researchers reveal that knockdown of vitamin D receptors in ECs induces ISC proliferation, EC death, ISC senescence, and enteroendocrine cell differentiation. I made it. Furthermore, age- and oxidative stress-induced increases in ISC proliferation and centrosome amplification were attenuated by vitamin D treatment. In conclusion, this study provides direct evidence for the anti-aging role of the VitD/VDR pathway involved in protecting ECs during aging and explores the molecular mechanisms underlying the promotion of healthy aging. provides valuable insight. Drosophila.

“Our findings suggest direct evidence of an anti-aging role for the vitamin D/vitamin D receptor pathway and provide insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying healthy aging. Drosophila”
