KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Washington) – A military veteran who gained national attention nearly 20 years ago with PTSD is facing a metal health crisis in the justice system following a double murder investigation into the deaths of two Loudoun County residents. The role it plays is becoming clearer. Suspect in the death case.
Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office investigators were called to the scene just before noon on Sunday, March 31st, where they found the victims, identified as James Ramsey, 78, and Betty Ramsey, 75. It was done.
Shortly after 2:20 p.m., the sheriff’s office announced that Julian Phillip Goodrum had been identified as the suspect and taken into custody. Goodrum was taken into custody on two counts of first-degree murder, according to information from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
In 2005, Goodrum received national attention while in Washington, D.C., for treatment for severe PTSD.
At the time of his interview with WATE’s Don Dare, Goodrum was being court-martialed by the U.S. Army for missing work while admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville for mental health treatment in November 2003. . He was subsequently fired, but was also retried for allegedly failing to return to his military base at Fort Knox, Kentucky and disobeying orders.
Loudoun County Sheriff Jimmy Davis said Goodrum was close to the victims. He also shared that Maryville Police had an interaction with Goodrum on Saturday night.
