A Bucks teacher has given up her full-time job to start a new career in hypnotherapy.
Rachel Barnard, a teacher for 25 years and a former leader at Cadmore End Primary School, decided to step into the realm of hypnosis and alternative mental health.
Mr Barnard, from Fliess, Buckinghamshire, said: “I woke up one morning and thought I had to do something else.”
The hypnotherapist opened her clinic, The Nest Hypnotherapy, in January.
He said, “I didn’t know what, but it had to be something where I was still helping others and could pass on the skills and experience I gained through teaching.” I did.
She was drawn to the fascinating but often misunderstood field of hypnotherapy.
Hypnosis appears to be shrouded in pseudoscientific narratives, with mind control and soul-soaking visions evident.
However, Ms Barnard insists that these are simply mistakes.
After completing a degree in Evidence-Based Hypnotherapy at the British College of Hypnotherapy, she was determined to clarify these misconceptions.
She said: “Hypnosis is in no way a state of mind control!
“While under hypnosis, you cannot make someone do anything against their will. This is just what the stage performers want us to believe!”
Ms Barnard compares hypnotherapy to guided meditation and mindfulness techniques.
Part of the process is to help the patient achieve a level of concentration that allows for greater perception and acceptance.
Ms. Barnard is dedicated to her purpose and passionate about the practice of hypnotherapy.
According to her experience, this technique can help reduce stress and anxiety and address behavioral issues such as unwanted habits and sleep disorders.
She revealed the effectiveness of hypnosis in treatment: “Hypnosis is, in some ways, a lot like guided meditation or mindfulness.
“Rather than being in a semi-unconscious state, as the word ‘trance’ suggests, the idea is that you can set aside your thoughts and sensory responses to achieve a deeper state of focus and receptivity.”
Additionally, Ms. Barnard feels strongly about the role that hypnotherapy can play in the education of young people.
She believes that helping children regulate their emotions and behavior is effective, and that she believes in equipping children with the skills they need to successfully manage life’s stresses and hurdles. We are aiming for
Ms. Barnard boldly announced her new business, The Nest Hypnotherapy, and her readiness to realize new possibilities. They are able to reach their full potential. ”
