This year is a big year for Innovative Wellness Center, as founder Dr. Greg Jones and his team celebrate the one-year anniversary of their new office in Biltmore, Arizona.
Jones, a retired Navy nuclear engineering officer with 20 years of service, reflected on his own journey into naturopathic and functional medicine, inspired by his mother’s medical history and a desire to help others.
As a boy from Chicago who moved around a lot and often lacked a solid home space, Jones quickly learned to adapt and embrace diverse cultures and communities.
“My childhood was difficult due to my mother’s mental health issues, but it was not without nurturing and love,” Jones said. “I have nothing but positive things to say about the professionals who cared for her, but she never received any education or supportive treatment to improve her quality of life, energy and vitality. It was.”
While dealing with her mother’s health issues, Jones was drawn to science and enjoyed tinkering with electronic devices. That interest of his was put to use when he joined the Navy after graduating from high school.
“My path to the Navy was inevitable. It wasn’t the proudest time of my life, but by the end of high school I had become a rather lethargic student, unable to concentrate on my studies, and it was difficult for me to go on to university. I couldn’t even get into the position,” Jones recalled.
He had to take a military entrance exam, and after getting a very high score, he started getting calls from recruiters. At his mother’s urging, he chose to take the nuclear field qualification exam and soon joined the Navy’s nuclear power program.
“I’m not exaggerating when I say this was the light switch that changed my life,” Jones said. “The challenge of joining one of the most academically challenging military professions lit a fire within me and gave me confidence, discipline, and a work ethic that continues to influence the way I work and the challenges I face to this day. It’s influencing the way we work.”
After leaving the Navy, Jones worked in quality engineering and comedy production for Honeywell Aerospace, two jobs he enjoyed but knew were not his true calling. Still, they taught him perseverance and perseverance as he transitioned from active duty and set his sights on his next goal.
Remembering that her mother was never offered alternative or complementary therapies inspired Jones to start her own business. It is a holistic wellness center where tailored treatment plans are celebrated and healthy living is supported every step of the way.
“I have no negative feelings toward traditional medicine, but I truly believe that the future of medicine is integrative and preventive,” Jones said.
He and his team find the root cause of symptoms and use the most effective treatments, combining natural, traditional, and innovative treatments when appropriate, to help patients be as healthy as possible. Our foundation is to support you in becoming a better person.
Jones, who studied at Sonora University of Health Sciences, said starting Innovative Wellness has been a wonderful and rewarding journey.
“Our approach is at once educational, patient-centered, forward-thinking, and grounded in old and new science,” Jones said. “I am extremely proud of my staff as they have been integral in growing our practice to over 450 patients since we opened 13 months ago. We’re just getting started.”
As the company approaches its first year, Jones said she hopes to continue expanding her patient base and services to optimize their health while supporting future healthcare professionals.
“I want to become more involved in mentoring and training more new physicians and inspiring young men and women of color and underserved communities to pursue careers in the medical field. “We’re working hard,” Jones said.
