Ayurvedic herbs are medicinal plants used in Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of natural medicine that emphasizes balancing the body’s doshas (energy forces) for optimal health. Many of these herbs are especially effective in the summer because they have cooling properties that help to relieve heat and keep the body in balance. Incorporating these herbs into your diet and daily life can help you stay fit and healthy throughout the hot season. In this article, we present a list of Ayurvedic herbs that you can add to your daily life for better health this summer.

Ayurvedic herbs to promote summer health:

1. Amla (Indian gooseberry)

Amla is rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, which help boost immunity, eliminate toxins from the body and improve skin health. Its cooling properties counteract fever and reduce inflammation. Fresh amla juice or dried amla powder can be mixed with water and consumed daily. Amla can also be eaten raw, added to smoothies or taken as an herbal supplement.

2. Tulsi (Holy Basil)

Tulsi has adaptogenic and anti-inflammatory properties that help the body cope with stress and reduce inflammation. It also has a cooling effect, making it a great choice for summers. Fresh tulsi leaves can be chewed or the leaves can be boiled in water to make tulsi tea. Tulsi supplements are also available.

3. Mint leaves

Mint has a cooling effect on the body and aids digestion. It soothes the stomach and helps to alleviate digestive problems that may be exacerbated in the summer heat. Mint leaves can be added to salads, drinks and chutneys. Mint tea also has a refreshing and cooling effect.

4. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has cooling and moisturizing properties that help prevent dehydration and soothe the skin. It also aids in digestion and detoxification. Aloe vera juice or gel can be consumed daily, added to smoothies, or taken as a supplement.

5. Nimes

Neem has powerful antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. It cleanses the body, promotes healthy skin and boosts the immune system. Neem leaves can be chewed raw or neem powder can be mixed with water and consumed as a supplement.

6. Coriander

Coriander has a cooling effect and aids digestion. It also helps flush toxins from the body and reduce inflammation. Fresh coriander leaves can be added to salads, soups and curries. Coriander seeds can be used as a spice or made into a tea.

7. Brahmi

Brahmi has cooling properties and is known to enhance cognitive function and reduce stress. It also helps maintain overall vitality. Brahmi powder can be consumed mixed with water or milk. Brahmi tea is also an option and is also available in supplement form.

8. Fennel seeds

Fennel has cooling and digestive properties. It reduces bloating, improves digestion and freshens breath. Fennel seeds can be chewed after meals, added to dishes or made into tea. Fennel powder can also be mixed with water.

Incorporating these Ayurvedic herbs into your daily routine can help you stay healthy during summers by providing a cooling effect, boosting your immunity, improving digestion and reducing stress.
