Start
- Find a quiet place where you can sit up straight and comfortably, such as the edge of your bed, the floor, or a chair.
- Close your eyes and focus on your breathing or another focal point to be fully present.
- Relax your body by loosening your shoulders, loosening your jaw, and softening your eyebrows.
Mindful meditations to help you start again
Remember how you felt the first time you rode a bike or learned a new language. We didn’t put pressure on ourselves to do it right or do it perfectly, at least not right away. We gave ourselves time to just learn.
Approaching mindfulness and life in general with the same mindset can do wonders for our mental health. By letting go of all expectations, we awaken our childlike curiosity and creativity, lean into self-compassion rather than perfectionism, and open ourselves to new possibilities in difficult moments. This meditation will help you lay the foundation for cultivating patience and grace while remembering what it feels like to start over.
