Mango season is typically from May to September, but with the availability (and deliciousness) of frozen mango pieces, there’s no reason you can’t enjoy a variety of mango recipes year-round. Mangoes are beloved for their unique creamy, fruity, and slightly floral flavor, but they’re also an incredibly versatile culinary ingredient. Of course, you can use it in dessert recipes like raspberry mango ice cream cake or mango pound cake, but it’s also great for smoothies, alcoholic drinks, and even delicious dinner ideas like coconut chicken cutlets with mango chutney slaw. Ready to get the most out of your fresh (or frozen) mangoes? Keep reading for a collection of mango recipes you’ll want to make again and again!

Mango chicken curry with coconut rice

Jennifer Causey, Food Stylist: Julianne Hensarling, Prop Stylist: Christina Daley

Of course, you can use frozen mangoes for this 40-minute meal, but I like to use fresh fruit if possible. The base of this curry is a yellow curry paste with coconut milk and aromatics like garlic and ginger, while chunks of chicken, slices of red pepper and bite-sized mango complete the cozy meal. For a meatless dinner, substitute a pound of diced firm tofu for the chicken.

Grilled sausage hoagie with mango salsa

fred hardy

Sausage and mango may seem an unlikely combination, but I assure you it works. Grilled meats (choose your favorite type of sausage) are especially delicious when topped with sweet and savory salsas. This is where mango comes into play. In this case, the colorful homemade seasoning calls for lime juice, mango chunks, red bell pepper, red onion, and jalapeno slices. Not a fan of sausages? This salsa also goes well with grilled salmon.

raspberry mango ice cream cake

Victor Protasio

Believe it or not, this amazing ice cream cake takes less than an hour of your day. Use store-bought vanilla ice cream, mango, or raspberry sorbet to cut down on prep time and layer those treats in a loaf pan. Once everything is frozen, place the cinnamon-spiced, buttery cracker batter on top of the cake, let it cool slightly again, then flip and serve. It couldn’t be simpler.

pineapple punch

fred hardy

What’s not to love about a fruit-forward drink? This Tropical Pineapple Mango Punch has a sweet, tart, and tropical flavor thanks to the use of white rum and coconut rum. We love this at barbecues, but it’s also a solid summer happy hour option.

Coconut chicken cutlets with mango chutney slaw

fred hardy

Ready in 30 minutes, these delicious chicken cutlets add flavor and texture from a dusting of coconut flour. Double up on these tropical flavors and add another winning dish to your weeknight rotation when you serve them with a delicious mango chutney slaw that pairs perfectly with the coconut flavor.

Berry and Mango Sheet Pan Pavlova

Greg Dupree

Surprise your guests by topping this sheet pan pavlova with fresh seasonal fruit. This recipe uses colorful summer favorites like mixed berries and mango, but seasonal pineapple and kiwifruit would also work well. If you need tips on the best way to cut a mango, we’re here to help.

tropical fruit salad

Victor Protasio

We recommend trying this tropical treat for a healthy(ish) dessert that everyone will love. Here, we’re mixing papaya, pineapple, mango, and kiwi with a little sugar, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. The fruit is then placed on a bed of creamy coconut yogurt and sprinkled with flaked coconut. Please feel free to play with the fruits here. You can also add raspberries or strawberries if you like.

mango chicken curry

Caitlin Bensel

Fresh mango is the star of this easy curry, giving the 30-minute meal a tropical flavor and bright yellow hue. Puree the fruit and add creamy coconut milk and a soup base to a fragrant mixture of onions, garlic, ginger and curry powder. The chicken thighs are cooked directly in the sauce and served with plenty of fluffy white rice. For even more flavor, don’t forget to add a shower of coriander and a little lime juice.

mango berry ni spritz

Greg Dupree

When planning the menu for your next brunch party, this soda is the perfect choice. This twist on the classic Bellini combines fresh mango juice and triple sec with dry sparkling wine and club soda to create a fruity, bubbly drink that’s super easy to drink.

mango and turmeric smoothie

Caitlin Bensel

Smoothies sometimes get a bad rap for being like drinkable desserts, but this smoothie is different. Here, frozen mango and banana chunks are combined with gut-healthy kefir and hydrating coconut water to form the base of a smoothie you’ll want to drink again and again. Ground turmeric boosts its anti-inflammatory properties, and a little salt and pepper balances everything out.

tropical instant oatmeal mix

Victor Protasio

Travel to the tropics with this healthy oatmeal mix that includes oats, flaked coconut, dried mango, unsalted pumpkin seeds, and chia seeds sprinkled in every bite. This healthy mix is a great source of protein and fiber, giving you energy to start your day. Feel free to experiment with fruit and seed combinations until you find the one that best suits your taste.

mango pound cake

Victor Protasio

For a slightly different mango recipe, try this tropical pound cake. Chopped fresh mango is kneaded into the dough and blended with coconut oil and melted butter to create a moist texture. Try it topped with coconut ice cream or mango sorbet!

tropical creamsicle smoothie

Greg Dupree

This smoothie may look like it doesn’t have mango in it, but you’ll definitely enjoy it. Perfect for breakfast or a post-workout snack, this healthy drink is packed with fresh mango, apple cider vinegar, coconut milk, and carrots (it’s a vegetable!). Drink through a straw or pour into a thermos to enjoy on the go.

creamy mango smoothie

Start your day fresh by blending frozen mango chunks with plant-based milk and vegan yogurt. This trio creates a protein-rich, creamy smoothie in just 5 minutes. Top with toasted coconut, fresh pineapple or mango chunks, or seeds for added flavor. One sip and you’ll feel like you’re on an island trip!

sunset daiquiri

RealSimple.com

As the name suggests, these daiquiris look like real sunsets. This is thanks to a bottom layer of frozen pineapple, rum, agave and lime juice, a middle layer of frozen strawberries rich in rum, agave and lime juice, and a top layer of frozen mango rum, agave and lime juice. The result is a boozy slushie drink perfect for sipping on a warm summer afternoon.

vanilla mango ice cream cake

Philip Friedman.Styling: Colleen Riley

A popular 8-piece ice cream dessert made with multiple layers of mango sorbet, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate cookie crumbs. The combination of vanilla, mango, and chocolate not only looks great but also tastes amazing.

Seared tilapia with watercress and mango salad

Quentin Bacon

Seared fish and fruity salads go very well together, especially when mixed with fresh mango. The key to getting good sear marks on tilapia (and most pan-fried fish) is to pat it dry before cooking. If the fish is frozen, thaw it quickly by running it under cold tap water (a few minutes is enough). Once dry, season both sides before cooking in hot oil for a light and flavorful result.

mango smoothie

Grant Cornett

In case you weren’t aware, mango is a great smoothie ingredient. Here, a mango lassi-inspired drink combines ripe mango with low-fat milk, yogurt, and a little honey for an extra sweetness boost. This recipe is simple but guaranteed to be a big hit every time.
