10 Ayurvedic Drinks to Keep You Cool All Summer Long

Lemonade is hydrating, refreshing and cooling.

Ayurveda uses natural ingredients and methods to promote health and prevent diseases. During summers, Ayurvedic drinks can help keep your body cool and hydrated. These drinks often contain cooling ingredients that help in lowering body temperature and replacing lost fluids and electrolytes. Sipping these drinks throughout the day not only provides relief from the heat but also supports your overall health by aiding digestion and keeping you hydrated. Keep reading as we share a list of Ayurvedic drinks that you can drink to stay cool this summer.

Ayurvedic drinks to keep you cool and hydrated during summer:

1. Aam Panna

Aam panna is rich in vitamins and electrolytes, which prevent dehydration and replenish lost nutrients. The cooling properties of raw mango help in reducing body heat. Mix boiled raw mango pulp with mint leaves, cumin powder, black salt and jaggery. Serve chilled.

2. Coconut water

Coconut water is a natural electrolyte that helps hydrate the body and replenish lost fluids and minerals. It also has a cooling and soothing effect on the digestive system. Drink coconut water fresh straight from the coconut or pour it into a glass over ice for a refreshing drink.

3. Buttermilk

Buttermilk aids digestion and has a cooling effect on the body. It is rich in probiotics which help in maintaining gut health. Mix yogurt with water and add a pinch of salt, cumin powder and chopped mint or coriander leaves. Serve chilled.

4. Cucumber mint juice

Cucumbers are high in water and have a natural cooling effect. Adding mint gives it an even more cooling effect and aids digestion. Mix the cucumber and mint leaves with a little water, strain and serve chilled. Adding a little lemon juice will give it extra flavour.

5. Basil seed lemonade

The lemonade is hydrating and refreshing, while the basil seeds (sabja) have a cooling effect and aid digestion. Soak the basil seeds in water for a few minutes to swell and mix with fresh lemonade and ice.

6. Aloe vera juice

Aloe vera juice has a cooling and hydrating effect. It soothes the digestive tract and reduces inflammation. Extract the aloe vera gel and mix it with water and a little honey or lemon juice. Serve chilled.

7. Rose Sherbet

Rose petals have a cooling effect and help lower body temperature. Rose sorbet also helps rehydrate the body. Mix rose syrup with cold water or milk, add ice and serve chilled.

8. Mint and coriander juice

Both mint and coriander have a cooling effect on the body and aid in digestion and detoxification. Mix mint or coriander leaves with water, strain it, add a pinch of salt and lemon juice and serve chilled.

9. Sattu Drink

Sattu is highly nutritious and provides instant energy. It also has a cooling effect and helps in rehydration. Mix sattu flour with water, add a pinch of salt and roasted cumin powder and serve chilled. Add lemon juice for extra flavour.

10. Bael Sherbet

Sandalwood fruit has cooling properties and is known to have a soothing effect on the digestive system. It also helps in hydration and nourishment. Scoop out the pulp of the sandalwood fruit, mix it with water, strain it, add jaggery or sugar as per your taste and serve chilled.

These drinks not only cool the body but also help in keeping you properly hydrated and providing essential nutrients.
